The memory of my first time being at Bhav is still fresh on my mind. It was my first job interview ever. Nervously, I entered the store to find the founder there and my first thought that came to mind was the DIY yellow carpet on the floor that I believed was real. So I asked Bhintuna if I shall open my shoes. After the embarrassing incident, my interview commenced. It went well. In fact, I was selected for the job post. I had always loved stationery before joining bhav and I think this was one reason that I felt confident enough about my dedication, that I would not get bored of working at Bhav easily. I had never wanted to work at a job where every assignment or task felt herculean or forceful. And I am glad that there hasn’t been a single day that I wished I could avoid going to work. Since I worked as the Administrative Assistant at Bhav, I was involved in most of the tasks that needed managing and thankfully, I have always loved managing and organizing stuffs. For me, the quote, “Do what you love and love what you do” came to life at Bhav. (more…)
I think expressing whatever is on our mind is extremely important. Being able to share our thoughts or opinion on a particular thing is a sign of believing in oneself. We can express our thoughts, feelings and ideas in many ways like through writing, painting, drawing, singing songs, writing poems, and many more. I have friends who love to sing, dance and write poems; produce arts, etc.
26th April 2017 is this year’s World Stationery Day. In light of this event, we—the Bhav team—have shared what stationery means to each one of us and what our favourite Bhav product is. Happy World Stationery Day!
Stationery for me is…
Stationery to me means story time with my family. Since childhood I’ve admired my father’s antique stationery collection that today, is over 70 years old. My sister and I would sit with our father drinking tea prepared by my mother, and listen to his stories about when and from which country he bought his crayons, colour pencils, notebooks and several other stationeries. My father would explain to us his earliest diary entries from as early as the 1960s and also show us his figure drawings and the different types of nibs he used to use for his calligraphy projects. I remember the moment he showed me a colour pencil with a string attached close to its nib; I was in awe because to sharpen that colour pencil, you had to pull its string. Such a stationery was a magical revelation for me back then, which is why stationery strongly connects with me because of the story time sessions with my family.

The Naulo Meetup #1
As we plan for our very first Naulo Meet Up #1, we wanted to have a bit of a (virtual) chit-chat with one of the co-facilitators for the meet up – Malashree Suvedi (a dear friend, a poet, a writer, and a ukulele enthusiast) – who will be moderating our “Let’s Plan” section of the meet-up to share her experience of using a planner!
We asked her ten questions and the answers are pretty fun to read through 😀
1 – Would you usually call yourself a “planner” person – someone who uses some tool/method to plan their day/week/month/year out? I am not a long-term planner as my schedule can be pretty random at times. However, yes, I like to think I’m a ‘planner’ person.I especially love planning out particularly stressful days, I make a list of things I need to do on that particular day which helps me relax. Nothing looks too intimidating when written out in colourful pen or messy handwriting. (more…)
